Fleshkraft - First Harvest (2008)

This is the debut from a Fresh new brutal death metal band out of Finland. Having little luck with the label search thus far, the band decided to release it for free through their website (you can get the link just below the review).

The production here is quite nice because it has a raw overtone to it. I find that their style is rooted heavily in groovy and brutal USDM, yet their songwriting is pretty tight and makes for an intense album. Some of the tracks like "Sworn to Burn" remind me of Cannibal Corpse, but this is never a bad thing. For favorites on the album I'd have to pick "Stiff" and "Bred Undead", but the quality across most tracks is consistent.

The musicianship is efficient and never too wanky or technical, the band focuses heavily on its sheer load of brutality and to that extent it's a ripping success. Definitely a recommended listen for straight forward brutal death metal fans. Considering the album is available, for free, at their website, along with a video for "Bred Undead", you have little excuse to not check them out. So get to it, and I wish them luck for the future.

Verdict: Win [7/10]
